William Murawski Obituary

  • William David Murawski (83) of Ginter, Pennsylvania died peacefully on February 14, 2023.

Born November 24, 1939, in Morann, PA to Joseph and Susanna (Andras) Murawski, he came into the world with an unexpected twin brother, much to his parents’ surprise.

At a very young age Bill demonstrated a love for the outdoors.  He spent countless hours hunting, fishing and exploring the woods around their home with his brothers and friends. He grew into an avid outdoorsman as an adult,  and was often found at his favorite spots which included Trim Root Run, Mountain Branch, Bald Knob, Stony Point and Palcher’s Farm.

After high school, Bill served in the United States Army, including several years in Germany, before returning to Pennsylvania where he married Peggy (Richardson) Murawski on November 12, 1966 in Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Houtzdale.

Bill was never afraid of hard work. He took pride in each job he held, including those at Hansel Farms in Houtzdale, Witosky Salvage Yard in Morann and Kitko Wood Products in Beccaria. He always had a project or two underway at home as well  In fact, he had a particular knack for getting broken lawn mowers running again which kept him quite busy once people learned of this skill.

As a young man, Bill loved adventure, riding his motorcycle and four-wheeling with his truck.  He always found contentment close to home. He was a skilled gardener, growing rows of vegetables in his backyard garden, often sharing them with neighbors, friends, and his pet rabbits.  He was drawn to animals, especially dogs and rabbits. He loved Pepsi, his pickup truck, his favorite TV shows, and his hometown.

Bill is survived by his wife of 56 years, Peggy (Richardson) Murawski as well as by his brother, Joseph (Carol) Muraski of Pleasant Plain, OH, his sister-in-law, Antoninette Krupa, Ginter, PA, eleven nieces and nephews and a number of  great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his twin brother, Bob, his brother Dave and wife Ruth, his sister Marie Nida and husband Harry, as well as several of his nephews, and one niece.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by Birger A. Freeberg Funeral Home, 200 David Street, Houtzdale, PA.  At Bill’s request, a private service will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Alexander Cemetery, Madera, PA.

Donations in his memory can be made to Clearfield County Area Agency on Aging, 116 South Second Street, Clearfield, PA 16830.
