William Roy Ibberson Jr, 77, of Morrisdale, passed away Saturday April 3, 2021 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
Born November 3, 1943, he was a son of the late William Ibberson Sr. and Dorothy (Zimmerman) Ibberson.
Roy attended the New Life Center, Philipsburg and the Corner Stone Community Fellowship Church, Wallaceton.
He served honorable in the United State Army during the Vietnam War and was a member of the Houtzdale American Legion Freeberg Post #591.
Roy worked as a heavy equipment operator and truck driver thru out his life. He was employed by Puttman &Green of Philipsburg, Ralph Thompson Coal Co, Al Hamilton Coal Co, Eddie Shingledecker Coal Co of Wallaceton, Kephart Trucking of Bigler, Merryman Trucking and Spicer Trucking Co.
Roy enjoyed reading, and was an avid gun collector. He liked shooting his guns and was a talented marksman.
Roy is survived by his six children; Pamela (Gene) Roberts of Osceola Mills, Tammy Evans and her companion Wade Harris of West Decatur, Annette (Dave) Ondo of Philipsburg, Roy (Karen) Ibberson of Osceola Mills, Ronnie Ibberson of Osceola Mills and Matthew (Susan) Ibberson of Woodland.
Also surviving are twenty one grandchildren; Randy and Michael Roberts, April Boris, Justin, Ashley and Brandon Evans, Jesse, Destiny and Victoria Paxton, Breck Stewart, Heidi, Holley, Roy, Gage, Jacob, Jaxon, and Jenna Ibberson, Chelsea Kantner , Tyler Ibberson, Alexander Ibberson, six step grandchildren, Dan, Darlene and Daralee Roberts, Stephine Moore, Erica Vehovic, Michael Irwin, and twelve great grandchildren, along with four siblings; Richard Zimmerman of State College, James Ibberson of Madera, Delores Ferdarko of Cartersville, GA, Connie Ferdarko of New Kensington and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents and a niece Wendy McGarvey.
Family and friends will be received Thursday April 8, from 10: a.m. until noon at the Birger A Freeberg Funeral Home Inc, Houtzdale.
Rev. John Dill and Pastor Matt Scott will preside over a private funeral service.
A public committal service with military honors accorded by the Houtzdale American Legion and Janesville Veterans of Foreign Wars joint Honor Guard will be held at the American Legion Cemetery, Brisbin Thursday at 2;00 p.m.
