Theodore "Ted" Holobinko, 94, of Houtzdale, passed away Friday January 30,2026 at the James E. Van Zandt Medical Center, Altoona.

Born February 5,1931 in Beccaria, he was a son of the late Harry and Mary (Russian) Holobinko.

Ted was a parishioner of Christ the King Catholic Church, Houtzdale

He served with the United States Air Force during the Korean War.

He was a member and former commander of the Stephen Kandrach Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #6321.

In his early years Ted owned and operated Ted's Gulf Station in Houtzdale and later went to work for Bethlehem Mines Co. in Ebensburg and retired from Bethlehem Mine Co. in Bentleyville in 1986.

Ted drove school bus for the Moshannon Valley School District for many years, bring generations of students to school.

On November 17,1956, in St Barbara's Catholic Church, Houtzdale, he married Jean (Sternesky) Holobinko, who preceded him in death on February 19, 2008.

Ted is survived by a daughter Sharon Lang and her husband Kevin of Duncansville and a son Eugene Holobinko of Houtzdale.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a son Edward Holobinko, three brothers: John, William, and Walter and four sisters: Anna Narbesky, Julia Fencik, Kathryn Pulsney, and Aileen Poland.

Ted was the last of his generation.

Family and friends will be received Thursday February 5, 2026 at the Birger A. Freeberg Funeral Home Inc. Houtzdale from 3-5pm. and Friday from 9-10:30am.

Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Friday February 6, 2026 at 11am at Christ the King Catholic Church, Houtzdale with Father Johnathan Schmolt as celebrant.

Military honors will be accorded by the Janesville Veterans of Foreign Wars and Houtzdale American Legion joint honor guard at the funeral home Friday morning..

Ted will be buried beside his wife in St. Lawrence Cemetery, Houtzdale.
