Terry Lee Swanson, 83, of Houtzdale, passed away Sunday August 3,2025 at Mt Nittany Medical Center, State College.
Born December 30,1941 in Clearfield, he was the son of Olive (Swanson) Tatters and stepfather Donald Tatters.
Terry was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Houtzdale and attended New Hope Christian Fellowship Church, Houtzdale.
He was a former member of the Houtzdale Lions Club and had served on Houtzdale Borough Council and the Houtzdale Municipal Water Authority.
In 1960 he graduated from Clearfield High School.
Terry retired from Bradford Coal Company in 1999 after 30 years of service.
Terry enjoyed hunting, horseback riding, playing the slot machines, and traveling with his family.
On September 12,1970 in the First United Methodist Church in Houtzdale, he married Peggy (Furrow) Swanson, who survives at home.
Along with his wife, he is survived by two children: Jeana (Kevin) Bennett of Morrisdale and a son Matt Swanson of Houtzdale, three grandchildren; Jarrod (Jessica) Bennett, Liam (Jordyn) Bennett, Zachary (Katie) Bennett, and nine great grandchildren.
Also surviving are four sisters: Shelia Green of Clearfield, Veronica Keith of Woodland, Doris Ann Saggesse and Martha (Jeff) Risbon, both of Philipsburg, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Terry was preceded in death by his mother, an infant son, brother Donnie and his maternal grandparents Ansgar and Mary Swanson
Family and friends will be received at the Birger A Freeberg Funeral Home Inc, Houtzdale on Wednesday August 6, 2025 from 2 to 4pm and 6 to 8pm and Thursday from 9am until the 11 am service with Father Bill Ellis officiating.
Interment will follow in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Brisbin.
