Ruby J (Elliott) Lloyd

Ruby Juanita Elliott Lloyd, 91, a guest of Mountain Laurel Healthcare and Rehab Center, Clearfield and formerly of Houtzdale, passed away Sunday February 11, 2024, at the center surrounded by family.

 Born September 24, 1932, in Lynchburg, VA, she was the daughter of the late George and Pearl (Lerner) Elliott.

She was a member of the Brisbin Baptist Church, a former member of the Order of Eastern Star, Business and Professional Women's Club and a current member of the Houtzdale American Legion Auxiliary.

Ruby graduated from the Practical Nursing Program at CCCTC in 1980 and was employed at Clearfield Hospital until her retirement.

She loved to cook and entertain guests.  She also  enjoyed music, singing, dancing, and playing the piano. Throughout her life, she loved to travel and visited many different places. However, her greatest joys were provided by the time she spent with her three grandchildren.   

Ruby married Thomas Clair Lloyd on October 29, 1955, in Lynchburg, VA, who preceded her in death on August 4, 2004.

Ruby is survived by her daughter Rebecca Ohs and her husband Rick of Houtzdale, a son Michael Lloyd of Moorpark, CA and three grandchildren; Kalen Ohs, Craig Ohs and his fiancée Mackenzie Kitko of Houtzdale and Thomas Lloyd of Moorpark, CA.

Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews and a brother-in-law Eddie Burnette of Lynchburg, VA.

 Preceding her in death were her husband Tom, daughter Leslie Lloyd, her parents, and five siblings; brothers, George and Frank Elliott and sisters, Evelyn Tucker, Shirley Carter, and Christine Burnette.

Family and friends will be received at the Birger A Freeberg Funeral Home Inc, Houtzdale on Wednesday February 14, 2024 from 2pm-4pm and 6pm-8pm and preceding the funeral service on Thursday from 9am-11am.

Funeral Service will be held Thursday at the Birger A Freeberg Funeral Home Inc., Houtzdale, at 11:00 am with Rev Duane Stiner officiating.

Interment will be in the American Legion Cemetery, Brisbin.
