Robert E. Brown, 89, of Houtzdale, passed away on Monday November 24, 2025 at Maybrook Hills Rehab and Healthcare Center, Altoona.
Born January 17,1936 in Altoona, he was a son of the late Arthur and Sarah (Metzgar) Brown.
Robert was a 1955 graduate of Bellwood-Antis High School and went on to have a successful career, retiring from PPG Industries after 37 years of service.
At the age of 16, he worked for Planters Peanut, Altoona as "Mr. Peanut."
A proud United States Army veteran, Robert was active in his community.
He was a dedicated member of Osceola Lodge #515 F&AM, BPO Elks #1173 Philipsburg, a lifelong member of the Houtzdale Fire Department, and the NRA.
He also played a key role at Faith United Lutheran Church, Houtzdale, as an active member, serving on council, organizing the food bank, and Home Communion Ministry.
Robert had a deep love for animals, especially his collies, often referred to as "Lassie." He was known for his kindness and willing to help any creature in need. He also had a passion for model trains and maintained an extensive collection.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Mabel (Lobb) Brown, whom he married on March 4, 1961 in Winchester, VA.
Along with his wife he is survived by a special relative, Maggie (Folmar) Parke and her husband Roger and their family and his nieces and nephew, Missy Jimmy and Vickie.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, James and a infant brother Billy.
Services will be held at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Robert's memory to the charity of your choice.
Robert's warmth, generosity and sense of community will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
