Richard Lee Smeal Sr.

Richard Lee Smeal Sr., 76 of Houtzdale, passed away Monday February 8, 2021 at UPMC Altoona.

Born May 6, 1944 in Philipsburg, he was the son of the late Clark W. and Betty C (Steele) Smeal.

Richard was a member of the Sanborn United Methodist Church.

He was employed as a dragline operator and truck driver for Ed Hanslovan Coal Co. and a truck driver Wal Mart Distribution Center, but his passion was farming.

He loved to collect antique cars, but his greatest joy was spending time with his children and grandchildren, never missing an event his grandchildren participated  in.

He married Rella Jean (Marien) Smeal who preceded him in death on May 18, 2000, he then married Cherly (Gardner) Smeal on February 24, 2001, who survives at home.

Along with his wife he is survived by a son Richard Lee (Kim)  Smeal Jr. of Sanborn, four daughters; Jolene (Allen) Robison, Pamela Smeal and companion Greg Robison, Eileen Smeal and companion Edward Lefore, all of Clearfield and Genevieve Andolsek and companion  Brian Kauffman of Altoona.

Also surviving are twenty one grandchildren: Allen Robison III, Scott Robison, Charles Robison, Tessa Robison, Ashley Lammey, Amber Barnett, Gauge, Keegan, Logan, Alexa, Isacc, Zoe, and Emma Smeal, Briella, Chelsea and Bradley Tease, Scott Kessler Jr., Kierra , Christopher, and Warren Andolsek, nine great grandchildren, along with two brothers;  Clark (Rebecca) Smeal of Chester Hill and Allan (Phyllis) Smeal of Stump Creek.

Preceding him in death were her parents, his first wife, a great grandson Donnavon Robison, a brother Wallace and a sister Vinnie.

Funeral service will be held at the Birger A Freeberg Funeral Home on Saturday February 13, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Michelle Bodle officiating.

Family and friends will be received from noon until the time of service.

Interment will be in the Baughman Cemetery, Sanborn
