Peggy Irene (Walker) Haines, 75, of Emporium and formerly of Houtzdale, passed away peacefully on October 28, 2024 at home surrounded by loved ones following a battle with cancer.
Born August 12,1949 at Bellefonte Hospital, she was a daughter of the late Kenny and Betty (Wian) Walker.
Peggy was a 1967 graduate of State College High School.
She was an active member of Faith United Lutheran Church in Houtzdale, where she was a member of the Lydia Circle. She was a member of the Houtzdale American Legion Social Club.
On October 8, 2004 in Tavares, Fl. she married Robert (Bob) Haines, who preceded her in death on August 28, 2024.
Surviving are three daughters; Tina Grubb and her companion Brian of Alexandria, Betty Gibson and her companion Ron of Emporium, and Shea-La Greer and her companion Adam of Houtzdale, five grandchildren: MaKenna of Mapleton, Austin of Alexandria, Alexia of Davidsville, Miley of Emporium, Jordan of Houtzdale. Also surviving is a sister Mildred Dreese, two brothers George and Danny Walker, her two beloved dogs, Kenna and Sissy, and many nieces and nephews.
Along with her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters Amy Walker and Carol Smith and a brother Kenny Walker.
A memorial service will be held at Faith United Lutheran Church in Houtzdale on Saturday November 2, 2024 at 11:00 am with Pastor Jamie Olson officiating.
The family requests memorial donations be made in Peggy's honor to Hahne Cancer Center, 100 Hospital Ave, Dubois, Pa 15801 or St. Mary's Penn Highland Hospice, 757 Johnsonburg-St Mary's Rd, #200, St Mary's, Pa 15857.
