Mildred Kasubick 95, of Houtzdale passed away Sunday April 16, 2023 at her home.
Born March 21, 1928 in Morrisdale, she was a daughter of Walter and Mary (Susko) Shirokey.
Mildred was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church, Houtzdale and the Catholic Daughters of the America's Court St. Victoria #646, the former Houtzdale Fire Co. Ladies Auxiliary, Houtzdale American Legion Auxiliary, and served as Judge of Elections for Woodward Township.
She was proud to say she went to work at the age of thirteen in a bakery in Chicago. Later in life she was employed at General Cigar and as a seamstress for various local clothing factories.
On August 9, 1952 in St. Barbara's Polish Catholic Church, Houtzdale , she married Raymond F. Kasubick who preceded her in death on August 17, 1991.
Mildred is survived by three daughters; Janis (Nicholas) Miele of Clearfield, Karen Supenia and Judith Ann (Byron) Reese, both of Houtzdale, four grandchildren; Michelle (Kris) Foreman, Robert Supenia, Jessica Reardon and companion Brad DeWitt, and Brendan Miele.
Also surviving are seven great grandchildren; Dakota Moskol, Brooke (Kevin) Helsel, Madison Kowalcyk, Keira Foreman, Sara and Morgan Reardon, and Dominic Supenia, along with three great great grandchildren; Leslie Reardon, Maliyah Miller, Dylan Atkins, a sister Theresa Shirokey and a brother Alex Shirokey.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a granddaughter Nicole Reese Thompson, five brothers; Michael and Nicholas Shirokey, Walter Sherokey, John Sheroka, Joseph Shiroke, and seven sisters; Martha Allgood, Velma Glenn, Mary Ratkiewiecz, Helen Davis, Anna Tomkiewicz, Eleanor Kurtz and Irene Chervenak.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday April 21, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. with Rev Father Joseph Czarkowski as celebrant.
Family and friends will be received Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8p.m. at the Birger A Freeberg Funeral Home Inc, Houtzdale.
Mildred will be laid to rest beside her husband in the American Legion Cemetery, Brisbin.
The Altar Rosary Society will recite the rosary Thursday at 3:30 at the funeral home.
