Michael Dobish Obituary

 

Michael J. "Bull" Dobish, 73 of Houtzdale went peacefully to his eternal rest on Friday October 1, 2021.

Born May 29, 1948, he was the son of the late Michael J. Dobish and Josephine (Laskowsky) Dobish.

Michael was employed as a correctional officer at the Houtzdale State Correctional Institution until his retirement.

He served with the United States Army during the Vietnam War.

Michael enjoyed hunting, watching football games, playing softball, working crossword puzzles and listening to music.

Michael was a parishioner of St. Barbara's PNC Parish, Houtzdale, a member of the Houtzdale American Legion Freeberg Post #591, Stephen Kandrach Veterans of Foreign Wars Post # 6321, Smithmill, Croatian Club Lodge 80 of Smoke Run and the Morann Citizens Club.

He is survived by his wife Joyce (Finney) Carnahan of thirty five years, three children, Barbara (Rich) Bloom of the Poconos, George Descavish of Houtzdale, Chrissy Reader and her fiance' Jonathan Michaels of West Decatur, along with ten grandchildren; Brooke, Bryan, Nicholas, Savannah, Donnie, Katie, Hunter, Conner, Cole and Olivia.

Also surviving are three brothers, Norman (Terry) Dobish of Smoke Run, David (Angie) Dobish of Madera, Dennis Dobish of Beccaria, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his parents and a brother Danny Dobish.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday October 5, 2021 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the Birger A Freeberg Funeral Home Inc. Houtzdale.

Funeral Service will be held at the funeral home Wednesday October 6, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. with Father John Nesvella officiating.

Interment will follow in St Barbara's Cemetery, Houtzdale with military honors accorded by the Janesville VFW and Houtzdale American Legion joint Honor Guard.
