Melvin G. "Muzz" Swanson, 86 of Parsonville, rural Houtzdale and a guest of Mt. Laurel Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, Clearfield passed away Monday May 19, 2025 at the center.
Born in Philipsburg on April 23, 1939, he was a son of the late Gilbert and Seline (Berg) Swanson.
Melvin served with the United States Marines.
He was employed by Flango Brothers as a truck driver for twenty-eight years and retired for HRI after twenty years of service.
Melvin enjoyed hunting, fishing and wood working.
He was a lifetime member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #327.
On November 30, 1958, he married Violet (Kephart) Swanson, who survives at home.
Melvin is survived by seven children: Cathy (Martin) Gearhart of Houtzdale, Karen (Robert) Evans of Madera, Melvin (Roxanne) Swanson of Madera, Sandy (Tim) Dasher, William (companion Sherri Rougeux) Swanson, Jeffery Swanson, and Janet (Jim) Blake, all of Houtzdale.
Also surviving are eighteen grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren, along with a brother Anthony Kassab of Harrisburg.
Melvin was preceded in death by his parents, brother Gordon Swanson and Sister Eleanor Vitorini.
Rev. Robert Ford will preside over a private funeral service.
Interment will be in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Brisbin.
