Joanne M. George, 90, of Houtzdale and a guest of Juniper Village of Brookline, State Collage, passed away Tuesday June 15, 2021 at the Village.
Born December 22, 1930 in Clearfield, she was the daughter of the late Paul and Caroline (Barone) Colose.
Joanne was a parishioner of Christ the King Catholic Church, Houtzdale.
In her early years she was employed at Kennard's Jewelry Store in Philipsburg until she meet the love of her life Edmond M. George. They were married in St Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Philipsburg on October 24, 1957.
Joanne loved to travel with her husband. She was a gifted cook and gardener and enjoyed time spent with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband of 63 years, two daughters; Emily Shylock of Houtzdale, Carolyn Listach and her husband Patrick of Spring Texas, and a son David M. George of Madera.
Also surviving are five grandchildren; Joseph Shylock and his wife Angela, Joanna Shylock, Catrina and Jacob Soto, Emilie George, two great grandchildren Jacob and Liam Shylock and a brother Paul Colose and his wife Paula.
Joanne was preceded in death by her parents and a brother Nicholas Colose.
Family will receive friends Friday from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Birger A Freeberg Funeral Home Inc, Houtzdale.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at Christ the King Catholic Church, Houtzdale at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Father Joseph Czarkowski as celebrant.
Interment will follow in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Brisbin.
The Altar Rosary Society will recite the Rosary Friday at 3:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
Donations may be made in Joanne's memory to the Alzheimer's Association or Parkinson Association.
