Janet Kay (Archer) Bloom

Janet Kay Bloom, 84, of Houtzdale passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday April 19,2023.

Born August 26,1938 in Brisbin, she was the daughter of Joseph and Arveda (Truax) Archer.

She was a member of the Brisbin Baptist Church, a lifelong member of the Madera Fire Co. and the Central District Fireman's Association.

Janet had worked as a secretary for Benjamin Coal Co. and retired from American Home Patient in 2007, where she was employed as a billing specialist. 

She enjoyed cooking for everyone.  She loved spending time with family, camping and riding dune buggies on the Michigan Sand Dunes.  No matter what her life challenges were, she always had a smile and was happy.

On March 31,1972 she married Gary Bloom, who preceded her in death on March 8,2009.

Janet is survived by two sons: Leroy (Darlene) DeLattre of Madera, Dwayne (Marcia) DeLattre of Madera and two daughters; Joyce (Wally) McClelland of Madera and Traci Walborn of Ramey.

Also surviving are five grandchildren; Samantha (Jordan) Salandro, Nathan (Ashley) McClelland, Lindsey Delattre, Austyn and Savana Walborn, a great grandson Harrison Salandro and a brother Melvin Archer of Brisbin.

 Janet was preceded in death by her parents, husband and son-in-law Denny Walborn.

Pastor Kevin Howard will preside over the Funeral Service on Monday April 24,2023 at 11:00 a.m. at the Birger A Freeberg Funeral Home Inc., Houtzdale.

Family and friends will be received Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home and Monday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.

Janet will be laid to rest beside her husband in the I.O.O.F.  Cemetery, Brisbin.
