Hazel Ann (Srock) Irwin,83, of Smithmill, passed away Saturday January 6, 2024 at UPMC Altoona. Heaven has gained an amazing woman, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Her smile and kindness were contagious.
Born September 24, 1940 in Ginter, she was a daughter of the late Ira C. and Thelma Mae (Williamson) Srock.
Hazel was a member of the Madera United Methodist Church and a 1958 graduate of Moshannon Valley High School.
Hazel was an avid fan of Moshannon Valley Black Knights Sports. She loved watching school Football, Basketball and Soccer and watching her granddaughter Maddie ride horses. She enjoyed many things, but attending Plays, going to the beach, and shopping with her sisters were her favorites.
Prior to her retirement she was employed at the Cigar Factory, the United Methodist Home for Children and the Neighborhood Center. She volunteered at the Hiller Family Memorial Library and was treasurer for the Madera High School Association.
On June 24, 1967, she married Rev. Thomas H. Irwin, who preceded her in death on April 26,2014
Hazel is survived by two amazing daughters; Sue (Kevin) Canniff, and Leigh Ann (Lawrence) Conic, along with the grandchildren she loved; Madison Canniff, Tarin Conic, Jade (Brandon) Cobb, and great grandson Lincoln Cobb, also a bonus son Scott (Stephanie) Hamm and their children Madison (Denver) Gravit and Landon (Celeste) Hamm and their daughter Willow Raine.
Also surviving are five sisters and a brother: Barbara Hess, Eleanor Grover, Lorraine Williams. Elizabeth Wiseman, Joanie Dickison and Ira Srock.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday January 13, 2024 at noon at the Madera United Methodist Church. Family and friends will be received at the church from 11am until the time of service.
Our mom will be greatly missed, but she is now reunited with the love of her life.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in Hazel's Memory to the Madera United Methodist Church, 96 Spruce Street, Madera, Pa 16661.
