Eugene Merrell Kephart

Eugene Merrell Kephart, 74, of Houtzdale passed away Tuesday July 25, 2023 at Penn Highlands DuBois.

Born October 23, 1948 in Philipsburg, he was a son of the late Merrell H. Kephart and Verna (Yarger ) Kephart.

Gene was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Houtzdale and Osceola Masonic Lodge # 515 F&A.M.

He was the Executive Director and founder of Cen-Clear Child Services.  He received his Doctorate Degree from Penn State University.

Gene enjoyed participating in long range shooting, loading shells and hunting . He also enjoyed coaching  youth sports.

On May 14, 1983, he married Joan (Sinclair) Kephart, who survives at home.

Along with his wife, he is survived by three children: Jack (Allison) Kephart, Kraig (Vanessa) Kephart and Kristi Kephart, all of Houtzdale.

Also surviving are four grandchildren: Addy Holt, Brielle, Wade and Blayke Kephart and his dog Lincoln.

Family and friends will be received Friday July 28, 2023 from 6-8 pm at the funeral home.

Rev. Robert Ford will preside over a funeral service Saturday July 29, 2023 at 11:00 am at the Birger A Freeberg Funeral Home, Houtzdale

Interment will follow in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Brisbin.
