Eli M Dufour Obituary
Eli M. Dufour, 93, of Houtzdale and a guest of Ridgeview Healthcare and Rehab Center, passed away Thursday September 12, 2024 at the center. Not long after he became a resident at Ridgeview, he earned the name "Smiley" for his big smiles and waves.
Born March 3, 1931, he was the son of the late Adolph and Victoria (Finney) Dufour.
Eli was a veteran of the United States Army and a member of the Allemansville United Methodist Church.
He was employed by Tafco in Hyde until his retirement in 1989.
Eli enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening.
On December 15, 1951, Eli married Marlene (Hadden) Dufour, who survives at home.
Along with his wife, he is survived by a son Darrell (Kathy) Dufour of Osceola Mills, and a daughter, Donna (Allen) Walstrom of Houtzdale. Also surviving are five grandchildren; Vanessa (Kevin) Reese, Joseph (Erin) Damiano, Ryan Walstrom, Justin (Nick) Walstrom, and Joel (Jordan) Walstrom, and eight great-grandchildren; Kendra Reese, Wren and Raeya Walstrom, Benjamin and Julia Walstrom, Hudsyn, Holly and Brooks Walstrom.
Preceding him in death were his parents, brother Adolph Jr. and sisters Philemon, Victoria, and Helen.
Family and friends will be received Monday evening from 6 to 8 pm and Tuesday from 9 to 11 am. at the Birger A. Freeberg Funeral Home Inc., Houtzdale.
Funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday at 11 am with Rev. Robert Ford officiating.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made on Eli's memory to the Allemansville United Methodist Church, 978 Plank Rd., Fallentimber, PA 16639.
