Eleanor M (Munson) Srock

Eleanor M.(Munson) Srock, 98, of Ramey and a guest of Windy Hill Village, Philipsburg, passed away Tuesday April 11, 2023 at the Village.

Born July 6, 1924 in Whiteside (rural Houtzdale), she was a daughter of the late Thorval and Nora (Walstrom) Munson.

Eleanor was a lifelong member of Faith United Lutheran Church, Houtzdale where she was a member of the Naomi Circle, the Altar Guild, sang in the church choir, and served as the church secretary for over 60 years..

 She was a former member of the Eastern Star and the Mt. Summit Grange.

Eleanor was employed as a secretary for W.O. Gulbranson Inc., Kugler Trucking and retired from Christoff Oil, Houtzdale.

She enjoyed singing in the lion's club showboat minstrel, doing ceramics, and knitting.

On June 23, 1951, she married James O. Srock, who preceded her in death on November 7,2005.

She is survived by her son Mark Srock of Ramey.

Eleanor was the last of her generation, being preceded in death by her husband and a sister Doris Miller.

Family and friends will be received at the Birger A Freeberg Funeral Home Inc., Houtzdale on Friday April 14,2023 from 2-4pm and 6-8pm and Saturday from 9-10:30 am.

Funeral Service will be held Saturday at 11:00 am at Faith United Lutheran Church, Houtzdale with Pastor Vicki Bielfus and Pastor Brett I Jenkins presiding over the service.

Eleanor will be laid to rest beside her husband in Beulah Cemetery Ramey.
