Edna George Obituary

Edna Mae George, (Brobeck), 89 years old, peacefully passed away on February 14, 2024, at her home surrounded by her loving family.  She was predeceased by her beloved husband, the Honorable Camille “Bud” George and her son Jacob William George.

Born on July 12, 1934, in Tyrone, Pennsylvania, to the late Alice Coffman and the late Orr Brobeck, she was a graduate of Tyrone High School. After meeting the love of her life, Bud and Edna married in 1952 and began their life together. Edna Mae adored and loved being a mother to her children. She is survived by Nina Booth ( Tom), Candace George Lane, Kim Scott ( Andrew), Edmond George (Danya), and Susan George; her grandchildren- Patrick Booth (Katya), Jamie Brenneman, Jordan Lane  (Mo), Meghan Booth Aughenbaugh (Gregory),  Christian George, Madison Goas, Alexandra George, Bradley Scott,  Brooklyn Scott and Maria Janpoladyan; great grandchild Georgie Akl.

Edna was a loving wife, mother and wonderful friend. She always greeted you at home with a warm smile and a table filled with her delicious cooking. Edna enthusiastically embraced her role as a state representative’s wife with her commitment to serving her community. She was easily visible walking in the State Capitol’s hallways waving and chatting to all she knew. Edna served as the Judge of Elections for Houtzdale for many years greeting voters as they arrived. One of her favorite hobbies was gardening. Her beautiful display of flowers graced her yard and her bountiful garden was shared with friends and neighbors. Many may fondly recall her famous jars of pickles and peppers canned from her garden. Over the years, Edna happily donated thousands of loaves of her handmade bread to local churches. As a talented seamstress, her family proudly modeled her handmade creations. Whether in an apron tending to her home or dressed in a colorful suit at the Bud George Day, Edna topped all her outfits with one of her festive hats.

Edna relished family traditions and holidays whether it be decorating for the holidays or baking her family’s favorite cookies.  Edna was an exemplary mother and person who embodied the best qualities unconditional love, strength of spirit, faith, humility and unending generosity. She graced all that knew her with her charm and sense of humor. Edna’s life was one rich in love, resilience, and a profound positive impact on others. Edna always said her greatest honor and proudest achievement was being a mom to her six children. Edna Mae will forever be loved and missed.
