Carole Lee (Evans) Kephart Obituary

Carole Lee Kephart, 86, of Houtzdale, passed away Tuesday April 8, 2025 at Penn Highlands Dubois.

Born March 5, 1939 in Brisbin, she was a daughter of the late Andrew and Elverta (Lobb) Evans.

Carole was a member of the Moshannon Valley Community Church in Ramey and an active member of Orphans of the Storm animal rescue.

She was employed as a licensed practical nurse at Philipsburg State General Hospital, Rockview SCI and retired from Houtzdale SCI in 2000.

She loved being in the outdoors, riding motorcycles, and was dedicated to rescuing animals.

Carole also sang in church cantatas and played saxophone in bands after graduating for high school.

Carole is survived by her son Michael (Anne) Kephart of Houtzdale, two grandchildren, Allie (Nick) Torsell and Andrew Kephart, four step grandchildren, Addison, Luciano, Natale and Giovanni Toscano and a great grandchild Arthur Torsell.

Also surviving are two sisters, Joyce Wilson of Brisbin and Dessie Rowlands of Lancaster.

Carole was preceded in death by parents, husband Thomas Greenawalt on September 11, 2018, and sisters Delores Washell, Jeannie Rhymestine and Florence Carrell.

Family and friends will be received at the Birger A Freeberg Funeral Home Inc, Houtzdale on Monday April 14, 2025 from 10am until 1pm.

Pastor Kevin Howard will preside over the funeral service Monday at the funeral home at 1pm.

Carole will be laid to rest beside her husband in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
