Cameron "Cam" Witherow Obituary

Cameron R. Witherow, 90, of Houtzdale and a guest of Knickerbocker Villa, Clearfield, passed away Sunday May 14, 2023, at the Villa.

Born December 17, 1932, in Carnwath (rural New Millport), he was a son of the late Nathan and Esther (Newpher) Witherow.

Cameron was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Houtzdale, a former member of the Houtzdale American Legion Post #591, Loyal Order of Moose Lodge # 327, and the former Houtzdale Veterans of Foreign Wars.

He served honorably with the United States Army during the Korean War.

Cameron retired in 1995, after 35 years of employment at Kurtz Bros Inc. in Clearfield.

He enjoyed hunting, but what he enjoyed most was time spent with his family, grandchildren and friends.

On January 31, 1953, he married Gloria A. (Hamilton) Witherow, who preceded him in death on December 18, 1998.  

Cameron is survived by three sons; Donald (Angie) Witherow of DuBois, Dennis (Cindy) Witherow and Richard (Kathy) Witherow, both of Houtzdale, seven grandchildren; Brian and Bradley Witherow, Jennett (Drew) Vandermeer, Daniel (Lexi) Witherow, Kathryn Witherow, Blayze Witherow, and Nicholas Strickland.

Also surviving are three great grandchildren; Summiera Witherow, Tatum Vandermeer and Jeremy Carter Smith, along with four siblings; Duane (Bonnie) Witherow of Olanta, Patricia Weber of DuBois, Jean (Marvin) Shaffer of Falls Creek and Thomas (Linda) Witherow of Pittsburg.

Cameron was preceded in death by his parents, wife, son John Witherow, grandson David Witherow, a brother Nathan Witherow and a sister Colleen Vundanish.

Family and friends will be received Saturday May 20, 2023, at the Birger A. Freeberg Funeral Home Inc., Houtzdale from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm.

Rev. Robert Ford will preside over the funeral service at 1:00 pm at the funeral home.

Military honors will be accorded at the funeral home by the Houtzdale American Legion and Janesville Veterans of Foreign Wars joint honor guard.
