Betty A. Rodkey, 97, a guest of Ridgeview Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, Curwensville and formerly of Houtzdale, passed away Friday September 22,2023 at the center.
Born March 30, 1926, in Houtzdale, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Lillian (Woodle) Rodkey.
She was a member of Christ The King Catholic Church, Altar and Rosary Society, and the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Court Saint Victoria #646.
Betty was a graduate of Woodward Township High School, class of 1944, Altoona School of Commerce and earned an Associate Degree in Accounting from DuBois Business College.
After graduating from high school, she was employment at Sylvania Electrical Products, formerly in Houtzdale, legal secretary in the Law Office of Clifford A. Johnston and finally retiring from the former Life Support Products, Houtzdale.
Betty enjoyed spending time with family and friends and caring for anyone in need. She was interested in art at a young age, loved to draw and paint, and had exhibited her work in various places throughout the area. Other interests were photography, computers and any new technology.
She is survived by a niece Tina M.( Jaskowak) Travis (Don), of Osceola Mills; two nephews, Alan J. Rodkey (Tish), of Houtzdale; Paul E. Rodkey (Lori) of Ramey; three great nephews, Clay A. Travis, Paul L. Rodkey and Joshua R. Rodkey. Also, several cousins.
Betty was the last of her generation. Preceded her in death were her parents; three brothers, Thomas E. Rodkey, Robert R. Rodkey and Leonard F. Rodkey; a sister Donna M. (Rodkey) Jaskowak, an infant sister, in laws John (Jack) Jaskowak, Mary L. Rodkey, and Agnes M. Rodkey.
The Rev. Father Johnathan Schmolt will celebrate a private Mass of Christian Burial at Christ The King Catholic Church, Houtzdale.
Interment will be in St Barbara's Cemetery Brisbin.
There will be no public visitation.
