Barbara Reed Thompson, age 84, was welcomed into Heaven on Sunday, July 19, 2026.

Barbara was born on the 25th of October 1941 in Philipsburg, PA to John Marvin Reed and Julia (Orlosky)Reed. She spent the first 17 years of her life in Pennsylvania. Upon graduation from Moshannon Valley High School in 1959 she moved to Niagara Falls, NY where she spent three years before returning to PA. She resided in PA until 1969 working at various banks in the Clearfield and Altoona areas.

In 1969, she and her sister, Julia, decided to go on an adventure by leaving PA and moving to a completely different location. The two considerations were Hawaii and Newfoundland, Hawaii was the choice. While in Hawaii, Barbara met and married Robert Thompson, who was stationed there with the U. S. Army.  After three years in Hawaii they reluctantly had to leave in 1972 for Robert’s new assignment in Fort Huchuca, AZ.

Even though the marriage didn’t last Barbara had come to love Arizona and after the divorce she decided to remain in Huchuca City, AZ and worked at Fort Huachuca, AZ as a civil service employee from 1972 until her retirement in 2003. She enjoyed 20 years of her retirement in Arizona before moving to Georgia to be close to family in 2024.

She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant sister Bertha Adeline Reed, her brother John Reed and her niece Pamela Amrhein. She is survived by her sister, Julia Reed Rossomme (Gary), sister-in-law Zola, nieces and nephews Matthew, Teresa, Jessica, Gregory and Juliane and numerous great nieces, nephews and friends.

As per her request, there will be no viewing and she will be interred at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Brisbin, PA..
