Arthur C. Clarke Jr. 93, of Philipsburg, and formerly of Ashland (Osceola Mills) passed away Friday November 14, 2025 at Heritage Ridge Senior Living at Windy Hill, Philipsburg.

Born November 11, 1932 in Berwinsdale, he was a son of the late Arthur C. Clarke Sr. and Ruth (Gill) Clarke.

Arthur was a member of the Ashland Wesleyan Church, Osceola Mills, United Mine Workers and the Houtzdale American Legion Post # 591.

He was emplyed at White Bros. Grocery in Ohio, Dupont Chemical in N.J> and Neese Chemical in State College and retired from Rushton Mines after 20 years of service.

Arthur served with the United States Army during the Korean War.

He was an avid outdoor sportsman, who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He loved traveling across the United States on vacations and tinkering in his garage. 

On October 3,1959 in the First Church of God, Brisbin, he married his wife of sixty-six years, Gloria (Greenland) Clarke, who survives at home.

Along with his wife, he is survived by two daughters: Tammi Clarke and Tonya (Kevin) Thompson, both of Philipsburg, a son Robert (Irene) Clarke of Hamburg, NJ, and four grandchildren:  Amanda (Brad) Anstine, Silas (Caitlin) Thompson, Jade Thompson and her companion Brian Eaton, and Ethan Clarke.

Also surviving are five great grandchildren: Charlie Showers, Saige and Harlow Thompson and Bennett and Malcolm Jury, along with two sisters: Patricia Baker of Berwinsdale and Ruthie Kunsman of Hawaii.

Arthur was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers Tom, Harvey, Bill, and a sister Vida Witherow.

Family and Friends will be received at the Birger A. Freeberg Funeral Home Inc, Houtzdale on Thursday November 20, 2025 from 12:00pm until the 2:00pm funeral service officiated by Pastor Howard Cilento.

 Interment will be in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Brisbin.

Military honors will be accorded by the Houtzdale American Legion and the Smithmill Veterans of Foreign Wars joint honor guard at the funeral home.
