Al  R. Smeal, 79, went to meet his Heavenly Father on Friday, September 29,2023 at his home in Sanborn.

He was born on October 25,1943 in Philipsburg, the son of the late Raymond and Mildred (Mason) Smeal.

Al was a 1963 graduate of Clearfield High School.  He was a lifelong farmer and also enjoyed restoring old cars.  He had been previously employed with Piper Aircraft and Swistock Coal, but first and foremost he worked for the Lord.  He loved Jesus and spent his time visiting the elderly and sharing the Word wherever he could.  He was a member of the Clearfield  Alliance Church, where he was an elder.

He is survived by his wife, Rose E.  (Aughenbaugh) Smeal, whom he wed April 25,1964; three daughters, Susan Thoman and husband Lee of West Decatur, Kathryn Howe and husband Larry of Olanta and April Kelly and her husband Shawn of Liberty, NC; six grandchildren, Dustin Clark and wife Jessica, Dillon Clark and wife Kyley, Cierra Hibshman and husband Kody, Jordan Cole and husband Tyler, Cody Beish and Miranda Beish; seven Great-grandchildren, Aleigha, Camden, Lilyana, Bentley, Greyson, Delilah and Madelyn.  Also surviving is a sister Linda McCombs of Clearfield.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Leroy and Kenneth and sister Kathryn and his daughter Sherry Smeal.

He will be sadly missed by his family.

Visitation will be held at the Birger A Freeberg Funeral Home Inc., Houtzdale on Friday October 6,2023 from 5:00-8:00 pm and Saturday October 7,2023 at the Clearfield Alliance Church from 10:00 - 11:00 am.

Rev. Tim Miller and Rev. Dr. Duane White will preside over the funeral service at 11:00 am Saturday at the church.

Interment will be in the Baughman Cemetery.
